[Not long after trial, Rufus seats himself at the edge of the bank near the top of the waterfall. Rather than take in the gorgeous scenery, however, his gaze is fixated on the screen of his PHS. Beside him, the monkey makes noise every time the water strikes stone and splashes onto it.
He lifts his head at the first sound of approach that isn't the monkey's antics.]
[ it's not easy to climb up here, so she didn't think she'd see anyone else, let alone Rufus, and the surprise is clear on her face - for once, she wasn't searching him out. ]
Rufus... I didn't think I'd see you up here. What are you doing?
[ as usual, Fiora looks tired, though perhaps a bit more than usual tonight - she can't even muster up another smile at the sight of him accompanied by that monkey. ]
That's not what I meant. I hope it's not hurting you too much.
[ it's hard not to notice how stiff his demeanor is and how he's got the PHS in a death grip - especially when she rarely sees him using it much in the first place. ]
... Did you get a message? [ a delicate question. ]
I want to know, though. You never tell me how you feel about anything. [ a sigh. ] Don't know how you do it. I'm so full of all these emotions, I think I might scream.

What brings you here?
no subject
Same as you, I think. I just wanted to clear my head. [ ... ] Do you mind if I sit with you?

You never change.
[ but that's okay. somehow, it's almost a comfort, at this point. ]
How's your hand today? Or... you know what I mean.
no subject
Please pay it no heed. The chances of infection are lower than they were before.

It's the same message that everyone received earlier.
no subject
[ a nod, and perhaps a bit of a relief in her expression. She thought he might have gotten a certain notification... ]
I couldn't figure that one out at all. [ ... ] I didn't think you'd still be at it.

Is it bothering you, too? The way things turned out.
no subject
[Answering flatly, he turns back to the PHS.]

[ so he still won't talk to her. she shouldn't really be disappointed, at this point, but she kind of is anyway. ]
no subject
Fine.]
I am annoyed.
no subject
not really, this all still sucks, but she'd be lying if she said it didn't make her a little happy. A shallow nod. ]
We should have found the other one.
no subject
I desire no business with irresponsible people. That's all.

[ the question is asked very gently, like she's afraid she might scare him off. ]

In the end, it has nothing to do with me.

[ a small, wry smile. ]
